TCA Staff Tidbit: How about three cheers for AT&T Mobility? Hip Hip HOORAY! I think many people who watched those late night commercials over the past few years have been tempted to text XXXX from their cell phone to get the latest ring tone, game or joke but unless they read the fine print they wouldn't know that they actually subscribed to a service which would bill them anywhere from $5 - $20 per month.

Now AT&T is offering to refund you up to three months of the subscription. What? You tell me YOU didn't fall for one of those shams? OK, did you purchase individual ring tones, applications or games through a third party provider? Then you qualify for this rebate as well for all of the individual charges as well (not just three months.) Keep in mind that the charges must have been incurred through a third party (no refund for you if you purchased them directly from AT&T) and you must be able to state that you didn't know you would be charged. If you meet those criteria, hit the website and REGISTER! If you're currently an AT&T subscriber you'll end up getting the credit on your bill sometime in mid 2009, and if you're not a subscriber they'll send you a check in the mail! That's awesome! Keep in mind, AT&T can and likely will verify the charges that you claim, so don't fib. I for one wouldn't want the great blue Death Star to come after me for fabricating a $3.99 charge.

AT&T is still doing this to many of their customers to this date.Still getting charged for playphone, thumbplay and MQ..This is illegal  and charges should be brought against the whole company as it is called  FRAUD.

Please give me information on how I can rea-file charges against Att for their 3rd party charges.  Even after their class action law suit, the practice continues.  I have been charged for 2 months strait months more than 47.00.  This occurred in December 11, 2008 and January 11, 2009.  Open Market is the culprit.  How can I defend myself against these un-wanted and deceptive charges?

Maria,

We're sorry to hear your phone is locked. You'll need to contact AT&T to see if they can unlock it for you. We'd recommend going into a local AT&T store for assistance. You can find one at http://www.wireless.att.com/find-a-store.

Thanks for coming to Top Class Actions!

good morning one of my phone was blocked and  need te puk number
as stated they have willfully violated other terms such as their free nights and weekends contract. They still take a dollar a day that is a paradox.I have called numerous times to settle the matter of deductions from a business I did not subscribe to that texts me continuously to my phone. My number is 404 754-6248 with AT&T.The second phone source currently in use is with a company called Metro.I would like to pursue a class action lawsuit against AT&T for cheating their customers.Proof of 5 second time intervals can be obatined.A point of contact in addition to the above number is 404-468-1792.When calling be descriptive concerning the topic at hand when discussing the evaluation of info disclosed.

I have been a customer for over 35 yrs and now that I am old I can't get a live person from the phone company to service my line although they emailed a message for me to do the trouble shooting outside by crawling under my deck taking loose the screw to a cover box containing the entrance cable jack and connecting a landline phone into it to see if it still made the loud humming noise, and it did. Now what do I do ? I plan to seek better service and noise my complaint as this option seems only one open.
