By Andrea Gressman

C.R. Bard vaginal mesh implantOn October 19, 2012, another plaintiff filed a vaginal mesh implant lawsuit. The vaginal mesh implant lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California and named both C.R. Bard and Coloplast as the defendants.

It is the plaintiff’s claim that she initially received a C.R. Bard vaginal mesh implant device implanted in order to treat her pelvic organ prolapse. This second vaginal mesh implant was manufactured by Coloplast.

Is Aspirin The Pradaxa Side Effects Killer?

By John Curran

Pradaxa internal bleeding lawsuit lawyerPradaxa is a blood thinner that is used to prevent strokes in people with heart arrhythmia. However, Pradaxa internal bleeding risks are truly dangerous as there is no antidote and current survival rates are about 25 percent. So it could be an interesting development if aspirin, one of the oldest drugs, could reduce the risk for developing blood clots that can cause strokes.

It is not as effective as Pradaxa, but doctors in New Zealand did find that one could avoid Pradaxa internal bleeding odds by taking aspirin and reduce the risk for stroke by about one-third. It was a relatively small study, with several hundred people, but it could bring relief for many people who don't need a drug as powerful as warfarin or the more powerful drug from Boehringer Ingelheim with Pradaxa side effects. Importantly, many Americans already take aspirin for heart health.

Whooping Cough Outbreaks Mean Z-Pak Side Effects

By John Curran

Zithromax heart attack side effects lawsuit attorneyWhooping cough, or pertussis, should have been much less common than it now is. Unfortunately, some parents decided to avoid vaccinations due to now-refuted scientific studies and it forces people to consider dealing with Zithromax heart attack side effects. At least two states are currently trying to quell whooping cough outbreaks.

The prescription antibiotic is one of the most commonly used to treat the disease, and is being suggested by doctors in both Washington and Kentucky. People have to take the medication even if they don't have the disease in some cases. Doctors will ignore Z-Pak side effects and prescribe it to parents to prevent the disease spreading to an unvaccinated infant, for example.

Prescription Eye Drop Class Action Lawsuit

By Mike Holter

Alphagan eye dropsFour consumers have filed a federal class action lawsuit against a dozen pharmaceutical companies they claim engaged in a deceptive scheme to make more money off prescription eye drops by having the bottles dispense more liquid than necessary. They are seeking more than $5 million in damages from the defendants, which include Allergan, Alcon Laboratories, Bausch and Lomb, Pfizer, Prasco and Merck & Co.

Plaintiffs Charlene Eike, Shirley Fisher, Jordan Pitler and Alan Raymond allege in the prescription eye drop class action lawsuit that the companies “separately engaged in an unfair and unscrupulous scheme.… to increase its profits by selling prescription eye drops in a form that compels consumers to buy and spend money for expensive medication that inherently goes to waste.”

The class action lawsuit cites scientific studies and medical journal articles – including some funded by a few of the defendants – that say there is no reason prescription eye drops should be larger than 15 uL (microliters). The defendants’ eye drop products dispense drops two to three times that size.
