UMass Says Vaginal Mesh Implants A Last Resort

Many women who are now dealing with urinary incontinence only just finished changing diapers a few years ago. So it is uncomfortable and disheartening for some of them when they have to rush to the bathroom, or worse. In that respect, some might not feel like its even worth talking about with a doctor. Not speaking up, however, could mean risks including transvaginal mesh implant failures.

Researchers at the UMass Memorial Medical Center want to start by taking the stigma away. In advance of the National Bladder Health Week starting Monday, they want both men and women to realize that it is a common issue. Dozens of patients show up to the hospital each month. And many don't realize that there are a number of procedures and options that don't risk bladder sling implant failures.

Three Ways You Can Avoid NuvaRing Side Effects Now

Women who are looking to hold off on starting a family inevitably turn to contraceptives. However the NuvaRing side effects including clotting could turn them off from this particular method, and for good reason. Both the treatments for NuvaRing deep vein thrombosis conditions and the disorder itself can be risky. However, there are a multitude of options to avoid these risks. Three different groups of options are options:

1) Barrier methods - The first thing covered in any sexual education program at schools includes barrier methods like condoms. One problem that many women complain about is the increased risk, as one in five women could get pregnant if the man uses a condom. However, both it and the female variant are available over the counter (OTC), and the risk is substantially lessened when they are properly fitted. In addition, some women could opt for a vaginal sponge, which is also OTC, and has a lower risk profile, especially avoiding NuvaRing blood clot side effects.

Pradaxa Recall Issued For Stroke Side Effects

One drug is finally getting the recall that Pradaxa internal bleeding lawsuit lawyers have been calling for year after year. Unfortunately, the announcement by Boehringer Ingelheim is a bit underwhelming.

Rather than it being for the entire lot of drugs that still produce fatal side effects, the manufacturer is instead focusing on a single lot it produced recently. They are claiming that the bottles were improperly packaged. That would reduce the dosage entering the blood stream. Ironically, that would probably reduce the Pradaxa internal bleeding side effects risk.

Unum Lawsuit Details New Claim Denial Tactic: Social Security Disability

Reverend Bob Hutchinson thought he was one of the lucky ones when it came to Unum and their history of denying legitimate benefit claims. When he fractured his spinal column and was completely disabled as a result of it, Unum approved his long-term disability claim. However, just nine months later, Mr. Hutchinson received a call from his Unum representative, which asserted that Mr. Hutchinson needed to apply for Social Security disability right away.

According to a recent statement by a long-term disability lawyer, Unum, as well as other long-term insurance providers, consider it common practice to have their policyholders apply for Social Security disability benefits to offset and then reduce the amount of Unum benefits they pay their disability benefits policyholder. Although many Unum policyholders have expressed a great deal of concern about this common Unum practice, the long-term disability lawyer says  it is legal for Unum to require this of their policyholder but adds more flame to the fire when it comes to Unum’s history of shady practices.
