Barbara's Bakery class action lawsuit settlement

Details on how to file a claim for the Barbara’s Bakery class action lawsuit settlement have arrived. If you purchased a Barbara’s Bakery product between 2008 and 2013, you may be eligible to claim up to $100 from the class action settlement.

The Barbara’s Bakery settlement resolves a class action lawsuit (Trammell v. Barbara’s Bakery) that all alleges the company mislabeled its cereal and snack products as “all natural” when they actually contain genetically modified (GMO) ingredients.

Barbara’s Bakery denies the allegations, but has agreed to resolve the litigation by offering up to $100 in reimbursements to consumers and removing the terms “all natural,” “no artificial additives,” “no artificial preservatives” and “no artificial flavors” from its packaging on foods that contain GMOs or artificial ingredients.

A federal judge preliminarily approved the class action settlement on June 21, 2013. A Final Fairness Hearing will be held November 8, 2013.

Class Members of the Barbara’s Bakery settlement include all U.S. consumers who purchased eligible products from May 23, 2008 through July 5, 2013. These products include cereals, cereal bars, fig bars, cheese puffs, granola bars, Snackimals animal cookies, organic mini cookies, snack mixes and crackers. See the full list of eligible products.

Class Members that submit a valid Claim Form no later than January 1, 2014 will get up to $100 to reimburse the money they paid to purchase these products. The amount of money you may receive will depend on the total amount of money you spent on the eligible products during the Class Period.

Rust Consulting doing this one….better send receipts, photos of you eating the product, DNA sample of a employee at one of the stores, photos of the product after its turned to stool, packaging, UPC codes, ingredient labels, invoices, if you don’t have all that….you might as well save your time and energy….you will probably get a denial letter.

    • BIGFOOT January 1, 2014

Tom, you must work for Barbara?

      • Steven Carter February 11, 2014

Bigfoot: You clearly haven’t heard about Rust Consulting’s practices. Tom’s point is precisely that nobody will get paid because of the absurd way Rust does business. Do a quick web search and you’ll see what he means.

  • Mary August 9, 2013

I received the Reebok settlement does this mean I will not get this one?

No, Mary. You can receive as many settlements as you are eligible for.

BUT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO OBJECT TO A SETTELMENT THEN YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO REALLY MESS WITH THEM. THINK ABOUT IT 1000 OBJECTIONS ON EVERY CLASS ACTION THAT YOU THINK YOU MIGHT GET DENIED. THEY MIGHT HAVE TO PAY YOU TO DROP YOUR OBJECTION

  • honey bo bo August 11, 2013

makes you wonder what will happen to this site if no one comes to check out class actions!!! no more advertisement dollars spent here cause theres no one here cause no one gets paid any more from class actions

  • Sam August 14, 2013

I don’t know why you all are saying you won’t get any settlements if you already got one. I receive settlements all the time and recently got one for $600 from a place I never even heard of. It doesn’t hurt to apply. No one knows about class actions which is why you don’t have to show proof or a receipt. If the judge settled at 5 million and only two people submitted claims, don’t you think we’d each get 2.5 million? If 5 million submit a claim we get a $1. You see how this works?? That’s why you don’t have to submit a claim. It’s wrong if its wrong and the company has to pay the fee regardless.

  • honey bo bo August 14, 2013

thats the way it used to be sam. now If the judge settled at 5 million and only two people submitted claims the claims admin would deny both and call it a day times they are a changing

  • catherine February 11, 2014

Where is the money? All these lawsuits are bogus!!!!!!!!!!! We are never going to see a dime from these suits, as usual the big companies get away with misusing the consumers and then don’t want to pay up when it’s time. Shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • robert February 11, 2014

It is not the product companies that are dragging this on it is the Distribution Administrator firms that have to make sure each and every claim is correct, while they get the bulk of the money right away and they rest of the plaintiff consumers have to wait for the left over crumbs!!!!

    This is how it goes:
    1. Court Fees
    2. Attorney Fees
    3. Charitable Funds if applicable
    4. Main Plaintiffs
    5. Distribution Fund Administrator fees to cover services and postal fees
    6.The rest of the plaintiffs

    • Liza February 26, 2014

Robert, Rust will do everything they can to make sure that most claims will be denied.

      • Liza Hater February 28, 2014

Your nothing but a troll. Your claims probably get denied because your to dumb to figure out how to fill one out correctly.

  • porcha March 20, 2014

My mom got the same letter saying multiple claim forms with two claim numbers and she only filed one i guess they want to deny you to keep the money.

  • dave March 20, 2014

same thing happened to me; I made a claim; my daughter made a claim as well. We live at same address. Got notification of denied claim today. :( Live in Washington State.

  • Tonya March 20, 2014

Got a letter today and it said I filed a duplicate claim therefore one claim is ineligible. It did state that the original claim was processed. So maybe I will still get a check, who knows!

  • Shirl March 20, 2014

Got a letter today and it said I filed a duplicate claim therefore one claim is ineligible. It did state that the original claim was processed. So maybe I will still get a check, crossing all my fingers..

  • Britni March 20, 2014

You are only allowed one check per household, that is why you guys are getting denial letters.

  • FOX March 20, 2014

I received a letter that I had duplicate claims. I only filed 1 claimed. So this letter caught me off guard. The letter did say my first claim was being paid!

  • Melissa March 22, 2014

Got the same letter WA state about 2nd claim denial. I think the hubby filed too. Hopefully we’ll still get one check. Kind of BS

  • Marlene March 23, 2014

My mom also got a letter saying she filed 2 claims. I know my mom in NY did NOT file 2 claims as I walked her through it and she printed it out. That’s total BS. Hoping she gets at least the 1 check she is entitled to! So far I haven’t received a letter and am hoping it’s good news. I only file claims for products and or services I’ve used and am entitled to! Who actually keeps grocery receipts? I know i don’t but am entitled!

    • rosie March 23, 2014

received same letters stating that I file multiples claims.i know for a fact that is a lie.these administrators need to be reported.i know people that file only one,and still received the same letter.this is nothing but a RIP OFF.

  • skullgrr March 23, 2014

Yep,got a letter saying duplicate claims, mine is ok, but the tenant downstairs got denied, I’m glad I did my claim first!

  • barbara March 24, 2014

I got the same letter told them just pay 1 claim hopefully I will get a check!

  • dirtydee March 25, 2014

you only getting 38 dollars and everybody i no got a denial letter they are full of it

  • ArzuLA March 26, 2014

I have received a denial letter. What is interesting is that claimant ID number in this letter does not coincide with my actual claimant ID No. How did this Settlement Administrator come up with this wrong ID number, I wonder.

  • Risapoo March 26, 2014

I also received the same letter. It stated too many claim. Really when I only submitted one

  • klcook_@live.com March 26, 2014

Same here, got a letter stating I filed 2 claims. LIE!

  • john March 27, 2014

They should be reported to the FTC

  • jay March 28, 2014

There is Not one statement saying 2 different people in the same household can file a claim, sometimes I do the groceries & other times my husband goes food shopping, this is Not Fair at All!

    • ton March 30, 2014

That is a great point. No where does it say one claim per household.

  • lynn March 29, 2014

i’m going to start a lawsuit on Rust Consulting-for stealing the money and lying, so rust u better get ready

  • Melissa April 1, 2014

I’m in on the class action against RUST. Let’s do it. They’re horrible!

    • Lovely April 2, 2014

I agree as well Lynn and Melissa. Maybe we can submit it to the lawyers that work with Top Class Action to see what comes of it. It is sad that consumers get pennies to their millions and they give us a hard time about settlements. People are always judging like consumers are taking advantage of these settlements, but just imagine the millions of people who have no idea about these sites or the “REAL” damage that some of these products cause. It is not fair to deny someone because they lack proof of purchase or pay them less.

    • lawanda333 April 2, 2014

lets do that let me know when

      • rosie April 4, 2014

please let the viewers know where to file a complaint against RUST

  • Brad April 15, 2014

I think there ought to be a lawsuit filed on every product, medication, car, piece of clothing, beverage, food product, electronic device and anything that does not do or act as it is advertised. The truth be known everything is lied about just a little bit in one way or the other for the sake of the almighty dollar that is backed by nothing anymore!
