Newspaper Makes Unlikely Case for Disability Insurance

By John Curran

Unum disability insurance lawsuit lawyerAn Oklahoma newspaper recently published a purported guide to disability insurance and other protections that someone might need if they become single or divorced. Awkwardly, UnumProvident claim denial and other insurance companies’ policies were not mentioned.

They recommended that people get disability coverage because two in five “over the hill” Americans will have to stay out of work for 90 days before they retire. Rather than risk having to hire an Unum disability insurance claim denial class action lawsuit lawyer, an emergency fund makes much more sense. Setting aside money in certificates of deposit or other instruments offer hassle-free money.

Top Class Actions has noted that UnumProvident is also running away from long-term care insurance, another suggestion from the newspaper article. These benefits are not guarded by UnumProvident claim denial specialists so much as they are by policy fine print. There are usually limits on annual benefits as well as lifetime benefits. In addition, they can complicate issues with Medicaid and Medicare in some cases.

Insurance is not a bad thing if the company is honest, contrary to what some Unum disability insurance claim denial class action lawsuit lawyers have found. It is important for people to do their own research, or get in touch with accountants and estate planners to assess what their actual needs are. Many news outlets offer good advice, but there is a reason that experts exist. It isn’t worth losing benefits down the line.

It also is not worth putting your faith in a company to pay you what you’re owed if they are looking to make a profit through disability insurance claim denial processes. Most companies act fairly, but it is not risk-free.
