Government to Blame for Increased Claim Denial Risks?

By John Curran

Unum disability insurance denialIt is popular for people of all political leanings to be less than thrilled with government actions, but those hurt on the job could face increased Unum disability insurance claim denial risks. The U.S. Social Security Disability Insurance program is facing real problems with its finances, and if it fails in the next few years, many workers will have to consider private options.

As it stands, the program is set to go completely bankrupt in 2016, or three years from now, according to several reports. That would affect millions of Americans who thought that the federal disability insurance program would help them out. Many might consider private options in spite of the frequent stories of UnumProvident claim denial specialists not allowing people to get their benefits. It is also a problem because the government is not acting on a single fact.

People who look at their paycheck may see a line item for Unum disability insurance or that of another private company. However, everyone sees a line item for Social Security in general. There is no split for disability versus income (SSI) for those who reach retirement age. What makes little sense to disability insurance lawsuit attorneys is that there are years to go before SSI funds run dry, perhaps a few decades.

Why can’t the Social Security Administration simply move funds from one program to the other? Many might argue that officials would have difficulty, except that Congress regularly raids the money earmarked for these programs for other needs. So it is clearly possible for people to be able to avoid private disability insurance claim denial specialists. It seems that it is more of a political issue that is putting millions of people at risk as the rate of Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries increase.
