Restaurant.com Fraud Class Action Lawsuit

Restaurant.comA class action lawsuit accuses online merchant Restaurant.com of selling thousands of restaurant coupons to restaurants that are not in business.

According to the class action lawsuit, Restaurant.com sells restaurant coupons to internet customers knowing that many of these coupons are for restaurants that are no longer in business. The main plaintiff in the case, for example, purchased a restaurant coupon from Restaurant.com for the Restaurant Ibiza in Coral Gables, Florida. As it turns out, Restaurant Ibiza never even opened.

“Notwithstanding this fact, Defendant has marketed Restaurant Ibiza and other closed establishments to Plaintiff and the Class resulting in such Florida customers getting nothing for their purchase. Defendant has engaged in this fraudulent and deceptive practice throughout Florida to the financial detriment of thousands of unsuspecting customers,” claims the Restaurant.com class action. The lawsuit is claiming this violates Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA).

“The statutory scheme under the FDUTPA…requires that Florida consumers not be cheated and/or duped into paying for useless restaurant coupons,” says the class action lawsuit.

The Restaurant.com class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all Florida customers who bought restaurant coupons at closed restaurants. It is seeking compensatory damages and an injunctive relief prohibiting Restaurant.com from continuing its violations of the FDUTPA.

Wow same here is Bridgeport CT. But worse. Of the 11 offerings none exist. One place is an empty lot. The others closed or put on Restaurant.com’s website without permission. It’s sad.

Now I’ll need to file a complaint with my A.G.
    Stay safe everyone.

I just bought $50 worth thinking I was buying $50 worth of food at one of the 10 places available in this area but, when I looked a bit closer I realized it was not that easy. Using the $50 I have to buy these deals available for each venue. For example, a pizza place up the street offers me $25 worth menu items for $10 with a $50 minimum. Who spends that much on pizza? I havnt tried to use it yet but, I will tomorrow to see if I even can spend it.

I bought $300.00 worth of these @ Christmas time. They are suppose to be life-long use. If they are doing this to Florida customer’s, it would be suffice to say they are doing this to EVERYONE!. My daughter live’s in Kansas, I live in Oklahoma. I gave her some of these for Christmas. Afterward’s, I checked restaurant’s in her area. There are ONLY TWO! These are very restrictive. You can ONLY use them on certain day’s,@ certain time’s, 20% gratuity is taken off the top of the coupon before you even get your check @ end of dinner. They are for dine in ONLY! One out of these TWO, doesn’t allow children! I feel like I just flushed my money down the toilet!!! AND IT’S EMBARASSING TO GIVE THESE AS GIFT’S AS I HAD PLANNED WHEN I PURCHASED THEM!! THIS CLASS ACTION NEED’S TO BE EXPANDED, TO INCLUDE EVERYONE WHO PURCHASED THIS CRAP!!!>:o>:o
