Coventry Healthcare Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

Coventry HealthA proposed $1.4 million settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuit Casey v. Coventry Healthcare of Kansas, Inc., which alleges Coventry Health improperly imposed upon individuals enrolled in a Coventry Missouri HMO plan both a coinsurance and co-payment amount for the same healthcare service in violation of Missouri regulation and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

 

The Coventry Healthcare class action lawsuit settlement will establish a $1.4 million settlement fund to reimburse Class Members. You are considered a Coventry settlement Class Member is you were enrolled in one of Coventry’s Missouri HMO plans any time between May 30, 1998 and May 4, 2011 and Coventry imposed upon you both a co-payment and coinsurance charge for the same healthcare service. 

 

Each eligible Coventry HMO class action settlement Class Member can receive a payment not to exceed the lesser of the co-payment charge or the coinsurance charge that the settlement Class Member could have been billed for the same healthcare service as reflected in Coventry’s records. In order to receive a cash payment under the Coventry settlement, you must file a claim no later than August 2, 2011.
