Convert2Media Is Scam, Says Class Action Lawsuit

By Kimberly Mirando

Convert2Media
Work-at-home marketing company Convert2Media has been hit with a class action lawsuit for allegedly scamming unemployed workers into purchasing work-at-home products for an advertised rate of $2, but then billing them up to $80 a month for as long as the consumer fails to notice the charge and object to it.
The Convert2Media class action lawsuit says the work-at-home scam begins by getting consumers to click on advertisements that promise they’ll make thousands of dollars a month by selling work-at-home products. All consumers have to do is enter their credit card information and personal information to purchase the products at a “discounted rate” of $1.97. What consumers don’t realize, however, is that they are unwittingly “agreeing” to a monthly recurring charge of $79.80 (also, in some instances, $69.90). The undisclosed feed is charged to consumers entirely without their authorization.
“[Defendants] know or should know that these ads and offers violate clearly established laws requiring, among other seminal concerns, that all material purchase terms by clearly and conspicuously disclosed to consumers,” states the class action lawsuit.
The Convert2Media class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of two proposed classes of individuals:
(1) The Merchant Class, consisting of all persons who submitted payment information to Convert2Media, LLC for the purpose of obtaining Convert2Media’s products or services, and who were charged, without authorization, any amount in excess of $2; and
(2) The Advertising Class, consisting of all persons who submitted credit card or debit card information to purchase a work-at-home product from an online merchant’s website, and who were charged, without any authorization, any amount in excess of $2, and that were traceably driven to such website by Convert2Media or affiliate marketers acting through or in conjunction with Convert2Media.
The class action lawsuit is seeking, among other things, actual, consequential and compensatory damages for class members and civil penalties and/or punitive damages for violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, violation of the Automatic Control Renewal Act, Breach of Contract, Fraud in the Inducement, and Conspiracy to Commit Fraud in the Inducement.

Case of a mistaken identity here. I’ve worked with this company for 2 1/2 years. Sad that the title is of this article calls this company a scam. People just don’t get the internet. If this company is responsible then so is the rental car company that rented the van to Timothy McVeigh and for that matter so is the highway administration since they built the roads that enabled him to drive to the scene of the crime.

This is funny. Convert2Media doesn’t even market anything, let alone work-at-home products. They provide tracking and financing for internet advertisers. Secondly, this Convert2media was dropped from this case once Lynette Booth realized what it is Convert2Media does. Shame on the owner of this site for not vetting the story.

Convert2Media is an affiliate network not a work at home marketing company. Lady that is suing the wrong person lol…what a waste of attorney fees.

of course they don’t offer any good or services for sale or manufacture or sell any goods or services of its own, thats what a scam is advertise something and give nothing but take as much money as they can get away with!

Convert2Media, LLC, (“C2M”) is an advertising network that provides a dynamic platform to connect merchants with advertiser publishers to promote the merchants’
goods and services. Merchants place their offers on C2M’s “bulletin board” and the advertiser publishers choose the goods and services they wish to promote. C2M does not
manufacture or sell any goods or services of its own and, in that way, acts as a mere go-between between merchants and publishers.

C2M is aware of the lawsuit filed against it by Lynette Booth in Cook County, Illinois. Unfortunately, Ms. Booth’s lawsuit is based on a great misunderstanding of C2M’s
business: C2M does not offer any good or services for sale. As such, Ms. Booth’s allegations that it does are, simply, false.

C2M will take all measures to clarify this misunderstanding. If you require any additional information about this matter please contact the company’s spokesman James A. Kaminski at (202) 293-8975.

This same thing happened to me! I gave my card for the $2 “discounted” shipping, and never received the packet! I did however receive the hefty $80 charge. I’m glad someone is gettin them..
