MobileMe Users File Class Action Lawsuit Over iCloud Transition

A federal class action lawsuit claims tens of thousands of MobileMe customers were left in the lurch after Apple forced them to switch to the iCloud without ensuring their email and log-ins would work.Lead Plaintiff Danyelle Comer alleges in the class action lawsuit that Apple promised an “automatic and effortless” transition to iCloud, but failed to ensure the service would work for MobileMe users. As a result, longtime MobileMe customers have experienced “a total loss of the ability to receive emails and have been unable to log on to their Apple IDs, or their Apple email accounts.”
“Apple has announced MobileMe will become extinct after June 2012, and will no longer be supported or usable by subscribers, despite having paid [$99/year] for their MobileMe account,” the iCloud class action lawsuit states.
Comer claims Apple failed to ensure that its servers could adequately handle the processing of MobileMe migration requests, leaving longtime subscribers unable to access the very email accounts, which they paid for, for extended periods of time.
“Soon after launch, Apple was forced to temporarily limit the number of users moving from MobileMe to iCloud as they had not adequately prepared for the transition. The misrepresentations by Apple that migrating to iCloud would be ‘effortless’ were blatantly false,” the class action lawsuit says.
Comer claims Apple “knew or should have known that iCloud did not function as represented in its advertisements, marketing materials, and warranties disseminated in Apple’s nationwide marketing and advertising campaigns.”
The Apple iCloud class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all U.S. residents who purchased the MobileMe service and held a subscription until the iCloud launch. It is seeking punitive damages for breach of warranty, unjust enrichment, unfair competition and false advertising.

This is not acceptable!!!!! At the apple store in Dadeland Mall they asked if
I had MobileMe. They told me to check my account to see if all my contacts were
there. All contact where safe on MobileMe. Then they switched me to iCloud and
lost all my contacts. This is my business phone!!!!! This is why I purchased
MobileMe for security. This not my fault! They should have told me to back up my
phone first or told me once they switch to iCloud, MobileMe account would close.
It’s time to take on Apple because of the MobileMe closure.
I lost my MobileMe business web-host, my client links and the money I paid to Apple/MobileMe. I never received warning emails, nor do I have a clue if my site can even be transferred to I-Cloud.
Apple should have made direct contact with me or automatically switched my web hosting to avoid this void in my web business presence … I don’t even know how much potential business I could lose due to this
