Zithromax class action lawsuitThanks to the influence genetic adaptation and likely overprescription, some of the most popular antibiotics do not work well as they should with drug-resistant bacterial strains. So, one possibility that could reduce Z-Pak side effects is the introduction of new drugs onto the market. One that investors and clinical researchers alike are excited about is solithromycin.

As the similarity to Zithromax’s chemical name azithromycin implies, they are similar in chemical structure and both belong to the macrolide family that can be used against both types of bacteria, gram-positive and gram-negative. However, according to studies, the new option is much more effective. In fact, it is more powerful than Levaquin and Cipro, drugs used for resistant strains and infections that do not respond to other treatment.

Yet the adverse events profile of the new medication, which is close to FDA approval, is not known. For example, overviews of the trials do not indicate whether it will be linked to Z-Pak heart arrhythmia side effects that were the impetus behind a 2013 FDA warning. However, as with most powerful antibiotics, the side effects for solithromycin seem to point to gastrointestinal distress in some patients, which could result in conditions similar to Z-Pak side effects like ulcerative colitis.

However, the most important factor following this or any other drug’s approval is not just the adverse events profile, but rather doctor’s prescribing patterns. Zithromax remains a front-line antibiotic choice and that could mean that the new drug could be placed above it as an option for drug-resistant bacterial strains since it is supposedly safer than Levaquin and Cipro. However, Z-Pak class action lawsuit attorneys might not see any real drop in cases if the result is pushing out older treatment options like amoxicillin.

What may do wonders for reducing the possibility of the adverse events known for the popular Pfizer drug will likely not be the introduction of new drugs that are even more powerful. Instead, as doctors and medical researchers point to overprescription, it will be medical professionals not using drugs when they are not needed.

Unfortunately, that remains a big problem and increases the number of people who could face adverse events from the medications that are supposed to help. If that sounds like you, or someone you know, legal remedies may be available. See if you qualify to pursue compensation for your injuries from Z-Pak side effects by submitting your story for a free case evaluation by a Zithromax injury lawyer:
