Details on how to file a claim for the $1.1 billion LCD class action lawsuit settlement have arrived. If you purchased a TV, laptop or computer monitor containing an LCD flat-panel screen between 1999 and 2006, you may be eligible to receive $25, $100, $200 or more from the LCD price-fixing settlement.
The best part? No receipts or other documents are required to file a claim!
The LCD settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit (titled In re: TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation, MDL NO. 1827) accusing 10 LCD manufacturers of entering a price-fixing scheme to fix, maintain and raise the prices of LCD panels. The companies involved in the case are: Toshiba, LG, AU Optronics, Samsung, Sharp, Hitachi, Epson, Chimei, Chunghwa and HannStar.
Under the terms of the LCD price-fixing settlement, the companies will pay a combined $1.1 billion to consumers in 24 states and Washington, D.C. that purchased a laptop, computer monitor or television with a flat-panel LCD display between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2006 manufactured by one of these companies.
The LCD class action settlement only covers consumers who purchased INDIRECTLY from these companies. “Indirectly” means that you purchased an LCD panel in a television, monitor or notebook computer from someone other than the manufacturer of that panel (such as at Best Buy, Amazon.com, etc.). The states covered under the LCD class action settlement include:
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Florida
Hawaii
Iowa
Kansas
Main
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Nevada
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Tennessee
Vermont
West Virginia
Wisconsin
The amount of money you can receive from the LCD price-fixing settlement will depend on the number of products purchased and the number of valid Claim Forms filed. According to the Settlement Administrator website, however, this amount could be anywhere from $25 to $200 or more.
The only way to receive money from the LCD class action lawsuit settlement is to submit a valid Claim Form by the deadline of December 6, 2012.
