Top Class Actions readers are reporting that their settlement checks for the TransUnion Credit Report Class Action Lawsuit Settlement have arrived, and the payout is much larger than promised!
The TransUnion credit report settlement resolves a 2009 class action lawsuit, titled Wang v. Asset Acceptance, LLC, that alleged TransUnion issued credit reports containing inaccurate information about disputed debts. Class Members that had such a report submitted by TransUnion to a third-party between June 22, 2009 and October 15, 2009 had until March 2, 2012 to file a Claim Form to receive free credit monitoring and up to $100 in cash.
However, several Top Class Actions readers are reporting their settlement payout is nearly 50% more than the estimated $100 reward. This is probably because not all Class Members of the TransUnion Credit Report Settlement submitted Claim Forms.

77 thoughts onTransUnion Settlement Checks In the Mail!
I received a check for $23.67 which I deposited to my bank but received notice that it had been returned unpaid – a bad check. My bank charged me an additional $12 to reverse the deposit so now I am out $35.67 instead of $23.67. I want to know how a Settlement Administrator is able to issue fraudulent checks – are they not under the scrutiny of the Court ?! TransUnion not paying its settlements. One way to save money.
I also received a check for $23.67. It is marked FOR DEPOSIT ONLY. For some reason it stirs some feelings of discomfort. And after reading the post by LAINEY, I really have the ominous feeling that things are just not right with this settlement. Either this is a scam or someone in the group is doing something naughty with the info given after the check is deposited. I did ask some friends if they ever received checks r/t settlements similar to this and they told me that they simply cashed the checks because they never had DEPOSIT ONLY on the checks. Just wondering.
I just received a check today for $23.67 but I dont think I will be cashing it or depositing it. I received a check like this and deposited it. Later that year, my checking account was hacked. Maybe just a coincidence, but I’m not taking that chance.
Both my husband and I received checks for $23.67, today. Not sure what to do with them.
I just received a check for $23.67 – no idea why…
I received a first check to validate that I was still pursuing the action back some time ago. I’ve been looking for more info to no avail. I wonder now if this is another validation or final payment for a grand payout of less than $50.00….
My husband and I both received a check, each for $23.67
Is there a phone number (with a live human) or e-mail address to contact to have an expired “Transunion Corporation Privacy Litigation” check reissued? Thanks!

This a completely automated number…
You must cash the $25.80 check so they know that your address is correct. Then they say they will send another check after 60 days from what I read in the settlement. But who knows, there lawyers, they make the rules.
I got my big ‘ol check for $25.80 about a week or so ago, fortunately forwarded by the Postal Service since I changed my address just under a year ago. But that’s the problem, my 1-year forwarding expires soon and they promise another payment. What happens if the check is returned? Will they find me? My hell, they are a credit agency, they damn well should know my current address!
So, simply file a change of address, right? Yeah, HOW? There’s nothing on the check or the web site telling you how, calling that phone number just gives a bunch of recordings. I tried emailing the original address I had from years past, actually got a reply, which said basically they will IGNORE any email sent to them for ‘security reasons’.
I just tried sending a request via the main Transunion site detailing this issue, so we’ll see.
