Judge Approves Steve Madden Text Class Action Settlement

By Kimberly Mirando

Steve Madden text settlementA federal judge has approved the $10 million Steve Madden text class action settlement we’ve been reporting on since November. If you received a text promoting Steve Madden products between 2010 and 2012, you have until June 11, 2013 to file a claim to receive a cash payment of up to $150.

U.S. District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez granted final approval to the Steve Madden text settlement on May 7, which ends claims the shoe retailer violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) when it sent text messages promoting a holiday sale on footwear and other products.

Under the deal, Steve Madden will pay up to $150 cash to consumers who received one of these text messages from July 2010 until September 25, 2012 from the short codes 91919 or 623336.

You must submit a valid Claim Form by June 11, 2013 in order to receive a payment from the class action lawsuit settlement.

Approximately 19,000 claims have already been filed, according to Judge Gutierrez’s approval order. The actual amount of money you will receive from the class action settlement will depend on how many valid claims are filed.

Class Members with a valid claim can expect to see payments in the mail within the next 60-90 days.
