UPDATE: All appeals have been resolved and the settlement is now final and effective. See how to file a claim for the Ford Diesel Engine Class Action Lawsuit Settlement.

Class Members of the Ford diesel engine settlement will have to wait a little longer to find out if they’ll be able to claim potentially hundreds of dollars from the class action settlement.

The Court held a Fairness Hearing on May 22, 2013, but has not yet reached a decision, according to an update on the Settlement Administrator’s website. The Court is expected to issue a decision and finalize the class action lawsuit settlement by mid-July. Class Members are encouraged to check www.DieselSettlement.com on July 17 when a new update will be posted.

The proposed Ford diesel engine class action settlement will resolve dozens of class action lawsuits, consolidated as In re: Navistar 6.0L Diesel Engine Products Liability Litigation, that claim the PowerStroke diesel engines installed primarily in heavy-duty Ford trucks and vans contains defects that result in poor performance and expensive repair bills.

Class Members include all current and former owners/lessees of a 2003-2007 non-ambulance Ford vehicle equipped with a 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine that received one or more of the following repairs covered by Ford’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty during the vehicle’s last five years in service or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first:

  • Fuel injector
  • Exhaust gas recirculation valve (“EGR”)
  • EGR cooler
  • Oil cooler
  • Turbocharger

Under the proposed class action lawsuit settlement, Class Members will be able claim reimbursement for post-warranty repairs to certain engine components or for deductibles. These payments will range from $50 to $825.

Claim Forms will not be available until after the decision to approve Ford diesel engine settlement becomes final, so there is no action Class Members need to take at this time.

Keep checking Top Class Actions for claims filing updates. You can also monitor the progress of the Ford PowerStroke Diesel Engine Class Action Settlement at www.DieselSettlement.com.

The case is In re: Navistar Diesel Engine Products Liability Litigation, Case No. 11-cv-2496, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.

Please send me updates on this settlement to the email above or add me to the list. We have a Ford F 250.

  2. James Keller says:

Ford should be liable for replacing egr valve for 300,000 miles or install a egr delete without government interference an reimburse customers for all charges on parts but that will never happen the attorneys are the only one coming away happy so instead of the Mustang I’m going to go for challenger after$7,000.00 an told that was only half, goodbye Ford. You know why Ford didn’t need too take gov.money back with the others it’s there diesel keep them in the good. Like I was told 99% of Ford’s are still on the road the other 1% made it home

  3. Charles Olsen says:

Please update me on this class action by email.
    Thanks,
    Charles Olsen

  4. RODNEY POWERS says:

JUST SPENT 9 GRAND FOR A RE-BUILT ENGINE, TURBO, OIL COOLER, ERG, ETC. ERG FROZE UP AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SIEZE UP. SO 850 BUCKS IS NOT MUCH FOR WHAT FORD PUT ME THROUGH. THE ITALIAN NORTHSTAR COMPANY HAS NO BUSINESS IN DESIGNING ENGINES.

  5. Al says:

First 4 injectors at 130,000 miles cost about $2,300.00 then at 160,000 miles the egr cooler, oil cooler and egr valve, over $3,500.00. I Bought the truck new from a ford dealer in 2006, (2006 f350 power stroke 6.0 4×4 crew cab) the beast runs awesome now with the upgraded parts. But the $ spent was insane! Not a happy ford owner! Ford needs to pay-up as we did!!!
