A California federal judge has preliminarily approved a $1 million class action settlement deal between Heel Inc. and consumers who allege the homeopathy company overstated the effectiveness of its Traumeel Heel Gel and Zeel Arthritic Pain & Stiffness ointment. U.S. District Judge Gonzalo P. Curiel granted preliminary approval to the Heel homeopathic settlement – reached in August 2013 – on Oct. 30.
Judge Curiel also certified a Class consisting of all U.S. consumers who purchased Traumeel Heel Gel and Zeel Arthritic Pain & Stiffness ointment since Dec. 21, 2008. The class action settlement resolves allegations that Heel made false and misleading statements regarding the homeopathic products, including that they were “natural,” “clinically proven,” and “doctor recommended.” In court documents, Heel said it “vigorously denies any wrongdoing or liability” but has agreed to resolve the litigation to avoid the expense and uncertainty of going to trial.
The Heel homeopathic class action settlement is still subject to final approval, which will be determined at a March 7, 2014, Final Fairness Hearing. Under the terms of the class action settlement, Heel will reimburse eligible consumers who purchased these products during the Class Period. Consumers with proof of purchase (such as a receipt or product packaging) will receive up to $25 per product, subject of a cap of $150 per Claimant.
Those without proof may claim up to $100 per household. A Settlement Website will be established by Nov. 14, according to court documents. Top Class Actions will update our readers on claim filing instructions as soon as they’re available. Thanks for Sheeple for marching us all one step further along the road to less personal freedom, responsibility etc, A Big thumbs up to all of you!
This is such an injustice. I have used and recommended Traumeel for 14 years. It is an incredibly effective product. I could not understand why it was no longer being sold in this country. This explains it. Its a tremendous shame. Such a safe and effective product being run out of the country when people are dying daily from prescription pharmaceuticals.
This is very disappointing. Traumeel is a very effective product and seriously helped me in recovery. Because of this product I did not have to take Vicodin. I am very sad we will not be able to get this amazing product in North America anymore.

This is ridiculous that anyone can file these claims without having to prove with receipts. You people who are filing these are putting small businesses out of business. I have used Traumeel and am so upset that they will be out of business because of this. Now I will not be able to purchase Traumeel any more because they will be out of business. Guess who starts these small claims? Pharmaceutical companies start these to put small businesses out of business. People, think about what you are doing. Of course pharmaceutical companies don’t want people using homeopathic medicine because it is cheaper and then pharmaceutical companies are loosing customers who are addicted to using their pharmaceuticals where they make millions.
