Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has agreed to pay $86 million to settle a class action lawsuit that claims the retail giant failed to pay vacation, overtime and other wages owed to thousands of former California employees.  According to BusinessWeek.com, former workers claim that after they left the company, Wal-Mart failed to pay them their unused vacation pay and other wages owed within the time specified by state law or not at all.
About 232,000 former employees will share in the $86 million settlement, which includes $12 million in vacation pay and $74 million in unpaid wages. This isn’t the first time Wal-Mart has been accused of cheating workers out of wages. In 2008, Wal-Mart agreed to pay nearly $640 million to settle 63 similar class action lawsuits.
