Just days after we reported on the Gillette M3Power Razor Class Action Settlement, we’ve learned that another class action lawsuit has been filed concerning Gillette’s Fusion razor blade cartridges.
The Gillette Fusion class action lawsuit takes aim at Proctor & Gamble’s marketing campaign, which allegedly deceives consumers into believing that they need to purchase the more expensive Fusion Power razor blades when using the battery-operated Fusion Power razor handles because they provide a much better shave than the less expensive Fusion manual blades. This deception is achieved though package color coding, prominently placing “Power” on the front of the Fusion Power blade cartridge package, and by the price differential, the lawsuit states.
Because of P&G’s false and deceptive advertising representations, the class action claims P&G is able to justify the significant premium that consumers pay for the Fusion Power cartridges over the Fusion manual cartridges, which are approximately 20% more. The class action lawsuit claims P&G has no proof that the cartridges are meaningfully different, and that the only difference between the blade cartridges is the price.
The proposed Gillette Fusion razor blade class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of anyone who has purchased Gillette Fusion Power razor cartridges in the United States. If certified, the class action will seek damages and restitution to class members, an order requiring P&G to engage in a corrective advertising campaign, and other relief.
