Robots DVD Release Text Settlement

A class action lawsuit settlement has been reached with Twentieth Century Fox and FoxStore.com over sending unsolicited text messages advertising the DVD release of the animated motion picture Robots. If you received one of these text messages in September or October 2005, you may be entitled to receive $200 from the proposed class action settlement.

The Robots text message class action lawsuit alleges Twentieth Century Fox and FoxStore.com violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by sending unsolicited text messages to U.S. citizens advertising the DVD release of Robots. If you received text message in September or October 2005 that said the following, you’re considered a member of the settlement class:

GEAR UP 4 THE HILARIOUS ANIMATED FILM ROBOTS ON DVD @FOXSTORE.COM. TAKE AN EXTRA $5 OFF THE ALREADY LOW PRICE BY USING COUPON CODE ROBOFOX PWRDBYZINGY.

Twentieth Century Fox and FoxStore.com deny any wrongdoing, but have agreed to create a class action settlement fund of $16 million to settle the lawsuit. If the court grants final approval of the proposed Robots text message settlement on April 15, 2011, all class members will be eligible to receive up to $200. If the expenses, fees and total number of valid claims exceed the $16 settlement fund, this figure will be reduced pro rata.

All you have to do to receive the $200 Twentieth Century Fox TCPA settlement is submit a valid claim form to the Lozano v. Twentieth Century Fox Settlement Administrator by May 30, 2011. Claim forms can be downloaded or submitted online at lozanotextsettlement.com. If you wish to object to or exclude yourself from the settlement, your request must be submitted no later than February 15, 2011.
