Zoloft Gastroschisis Birth Defect Lawsuit

By Scott Hardy

Zoloft birth defect lawsuit pillsA mother in Indiana has filed a new birth defect lawsuit against Pfizer stating that Pfizer should have warned her about the possibility of severe birth defects if taking Zoloft or another SSRI antidepressant while pregnant. Kathleen Edwards was taking Zoloft while pregnant and her daughter Hallie was born with the birth defect gastroschisis. Gastroschisis is a severe abdominal birth defect.
Like many mothers Kathleen started taking Zoloft in 2007 and continued to take it as directed through her pregnancy. Kathleen’s daughter Hallie was born on May 4th, 2010, with gastroschisis and other severe allegedly Zoloft related birth defects. Gastroschisis is a congenital birth defect in which the baby develops a defect or hole in the abdominal wall during the pregnancy, while still developing in the mother’s womb. The hole or defect is typically located on the right side of the umbilical cord. It’s also called an “abdominal hernia” and the defect can cause the intestines and occasionally other vital organs to develop outside the baby’s abdomen. Surgery is typically required to repair the defect.
Thousands of women who took Zoloft while pregnant may not just experience a congenital birth defect like gastroschisis or an abdominal hernia. Many mothers who took Zoloft or another antidepressant while pregnant have had babies with a low birth weight, still birth or severe congenital birth defects. It’s important that mothers who have had a child with a birth defect work with an attorney to determine if they have cause to file a lawsuit to help pay for medical treatment and pain and suffering.
Filing a Zoloft class action lawsuit may not be in the best interest of everyone. It’s important that those affected by Zoloft side effects speak with a qualified Zoloft attorney to determine their best course of action which may be filing an individual lawsuit against Pfizer. If your baby was born with a birth defect and you were taking Zoloft or another antidepressant SSRI drug like Paxil you should talk to an experienced Zoloft attorney.
If you would like more information about filing a Zoloft birth defect class action lawsuit, contacting a Zoloft birth defect attorney, or would like to file a Zoloft birth defect personal injury lawsuit just go to the Zoloft Birth Defect Class Action Lawsuit Investigation page. You can submit your information to attorneys who specialize in Zoloft related birth defect lawsuits, and other SSRI drug birth defect lawsuits, that are actively investigating all claims regarding birth defects like Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension (PPHN), Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), ventricular septal defects (VSD), abdominal birth defects (omphalocele), cranial birth defects (craniosynotosis), aorta coarctation, hypoplastic right or left heart syndrome, transposition of the great arteries (TGA), tetralogy of fallot (TOF), spina bifida and other problems which may be attributed to Zoloft or another anti-depressant (SSRI) drug taken while pregnant. It’s Pfizer’s responsibility to properly warn users of their drugs of the possibility of severe birth defects and if you don’t feel you were properly warned a birth defect attorney may be able to help.

I had a still born 6 days before my due date, in 2006 my doctor said I could take up to 200 ml of Zoloft safely while I was pregnant to help me with my depression, I was only taking 50 mg because it was too strong for me. They told me the cord wrapped around my babies neck. But I know that’s not true… Studies have shown that rats, and rabbits were tested and they were having still borns or babies were dying with in a couple days after birth!!!!! I also read that they didn’t even really try to test on pregnant humans, so if this is true WHY would they test on rats and rabbits and note that it was a common still born or death factor but allow my obgyn to prescribe me with this and then I lose my baby & end up leaving the hospital with an empty heart and a box with some knitted clothes and a picture of my decomposed baby in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM STILL HEART BROKEN & I WILL NEVER BE OVER THE PAIN AND HEART BREAK IT WAS TO CARRY MY BABY UNTIL WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE HER BIRTH TO FIND SHE DIED INSIDE ME!!!!! where is the justice!!! they have lawsuits for children that are living with birth defects but what about how ive been living with PTSD ever since I held my dead child in my arms for 2 hours after carrying her for 9 months but losing her due to faulty prescription!!!1
