Actos Bladder Cancer Lawsuits May Include Alzheimer Patients
By Scott Hardy
Takeda Pharmaceuticals has been discussing testing to see if Actos can help prevent Alzheimer’s and the trials are underway but there is no word as to whether the patients may be at risk of developing bladder cancer. This is a study that recently launched as Takeda Pharmaceuticals searches for new treatments which could help them expand the use of Actos before it goes generic in the next few months.
Takeda Pharmaceuticals hasn’t released the length of the trial as studies have shown that taking Actos for more than one year can increase your risk of bladder cancer by 40%. Actos side effects lawsuits allege that use of Actos can lead to tumors, bladder cancer, cardiovascular problems, suicide, schizophrenia, epilepsy and grand mal seizures along with other severe side effects. Actos side effect lawsuits also allege that Takeda Pharmaceuticals knew of the risk of bladder cancer and other side effects when taking Actos but hid that knowledge from patients and prescribing doctors.
The Actos trials to test treatment or prevention of Alzheimer’s have been moderately successful thus far and more results are expected to be released within the next few months. Initial results showed that Actos helped slow the progression of Alzheimer’s but didn’t stop it. The current trials are expected to have a much larger scope (with thousands of participants) and should give more data as to the success of treating Alzheimer’s with Actos. Takeda Pharmaceuticals hasn’t released whether they are tracking instances of bladder cancer or tumors in the Alzheimer’s patients enrolled in the trial.
Actos users need to know what the symptoms of bladder cancer are, especially if they have taken Actos for more than one year as it may increase the risk of bladder cancer by 40% or more. Bladder cancer is allegedly a severe side effect of Actos and should be treated as soon as symptoms are detected. Symptoms of bladder cancer include tumors which may cause blood in the urine, painful or frequent urination, or straining during urination. In addition, other common signs of bladder cancer include fatigue, incontinence, weight loss and bone pain or tenderness. If you are experiencing these symptoms you should see a doctor immediately so bladder cancer or tumors can be ruled out or treatment stated if necessary. If you are experiencing these symptoms and are diagnosed with bladder cancer or tumors you should speak with an Actos attorney to see if you are a good fit to file an Actos class action lawsuit or an Actos personal injury lawsuit. Patients are filing Actos bladder cancer or cardiovascular problem lawsuits because they believe that they should have been warned of the significant risks of taking Actos. Bladder cancer due to Actos can, and allegedly has, lead to death in multiple patients whose families have also filed lawsuits against Takeda Pharmaceuticals. In addition, the spouse of a patient who took Actos may be able to file a lawsuit, even if the spouse hasn’t passed away.
