Woman Files Pradaxa Lawsuit After Suffering Uncontrollable Internal Bleeding

By Mike Holter

Pradaxa interal bleeding lawsuitAn Illinois resident who suffered uncontrollable internal bleeding after taking the blood-thinning drug Pradaxa has filed a Pradaxa lawsuit against Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals for failing to warn her about the serious side effects associated with the drug. Her lawsuit joins hundreds of other Pradaxa bleeding lawsuits filed by patients seeking compensation to help cover medical bills and other costs associated with their Pradaxa bleeding injuries.

Plaintiff Jacqueline Boston alleges in her Pradaxa internal bleeding lawsuit that she was prescribed Pradaxa in September 2011 to treat her atrial fibrillation. Within only a few days of taking the medication, however, Boston says she suffered severe gastrointestinal bleeding and was hospitalized for almost two weeks with uncontrollable bleeding. Her Pradaxa lawsuit claims she never would have taken Pradaxa had she known the possibility of serious internal bleeding side effects -- and even Pradaxa bleeding deaths -- that have been reported by hundreds of patients since the medication was introduced in October 2010. Boston will now have to undergo lifelong medical monitoring and take medications to monitor her condition for the rest of her life as a result of her side effects from Pradaxa use, and she want Boehringer to pay up for her permanent injuries.

Boston's case joins hundreds of Pradaxa lawsuits seeking compensation from Boehringer for failing to adequately warn the public about the risk of uncontrollable bleeding associated with Pradaxa use. Pradaxa was originally introduced as a revolutionary anti-coagulant drug meant to replace its competitor Warfarin, which requires a strict diet and regular blood monitoring tests. Unlike Warfarin, however, Pradaxa does not have a bleeding reversal agent to stop severe bleeding should it occur after an accident or during surgery. As a result, Pradaxa side effects can be long lasting and life threatening. In fact, Pradaxa caused more deaths in 2011 than any other legal drug. Boehringer Ingelheim has stated it is working on an antidote or treatment to help doctors when a Pradaxa patient is admitted with hemorrhage or severe internal bleeding, but this is little consolation to Pradaxa users who have already suffered internal bleeding injuries or to the loved ones of Pradaxa users who have already died from Pradaxa hemorrhaging.

If you or your loved one took Pradaxa and experienced complications from the drug such as uncontrollable bleeding or hemorrhaging, you have legal options. A skilled Pradaxa bleeding compensation consultant can provide a free evaluation of your claims to see if you qualify to file a Pradaxa lawsuit, Pradaxa class action lawsuit, or Pradaxa wrongful death lawsuit to seek compensation from Boehringer Ingelheim.
