Pradaxa Bleeding Lawsuits Force Boehringer to Work on an Antidote

By Matt O’Donnell

Pradaxa lawsuitAfter being hit with hundreds of lawsuits alleging Pradaxa caused severe, uncontrollable internal bleeding in users, the drug’s manufacturer, Boehringer Ingelheim, has finally announced it is working on an antidote to help stop bleeding should it occur. Pradaxa currently doesn’t have a reversal agent, which has left many users in critical condition after suffering uncontrollable internal bleeding from an accident or during surgery. Hundreds of Pradaxa bleeding lawsuits, and even Pradaxa wrongful death lawsuits, have been filed against Boehringer seeking compensation for these victims.

The FDA announced in December 2011 that it would investigate the safety of Pradaxa after receiving higher than expected reports of injury or death. Pradaxa contributed to more deaths and bleeding reports to the FDA in 2011 than any other medication. It was approved for the market in 2010 as a blood-thinning medication to help prevent strokes or serious blood clots in people with atrial fibrillation, but it has caused sever complications for many Pradaxa users. So many Pradaxa bleeding lawsuits have been filed that Pradaxa lawyers asked a federal Judicial Panel to move the cases to one federal court to expedite the litigation process. If the Pradaxa lawsuit MDL is created, it would make it easer for patients to sue Boehringer Ingelheim for causing their Pradaxa injuries by failing to warn the public about the risks of internal bleeding.

If you or a family member are taking, or were taking Pradaxa, and experienced internal bleeding or hemorrhage, you may be able to file a Pradaxa lawsuit to help you pay for your medical expenses, pain and suffering, and recovery. Only a qualified Pradaxa hemorrhage or internal bleeding lawsuit lawyer can determine if you have a case. In addition, the spouse of a Pradaxa victim of internal bleeding or hemorrhage may be able to join the lawsuit as a co-plaintiff and sue for “loss of consortium.”
