Boehringer Hit with Another Pradaxa Injury Lawsuit
By Mike Holter
A new lawsuit has been filed against Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals alleging the company failed to warn about the risk of Pradaxa side effects. Plaintiff Jose Monebias alleges in the Pradaxa lawsuit that the blood-thinning drug caused him to suffer a severe stroke that left him with permanent injuries, including partial paralysis. Pradaxa has come under fierce scrutiny lately amid thousands of reports of patients suffering severe uncontrollable bleeding side effects. In 2011 alone, there were nearly 3,000 reports of bleeding injuries linked to Pradaxa. Like all blood-thinning medications, Pradaxa carries the risk of internal bleeding. However, unlike its competitor Warfarin (Coumadin), there is no antidote for Pradaxa bleeding. Hundreds of people have bled to death while using Pradaxa, and many more have suffered severe or permanent injuries from their internal bleeding. As a result, hundreds of Pradaxa injury lawsuits and wrongful death lawsuits have been filed against Boehringer Ingelheim for failing to warn the public that there is no cure for Pradaxa bleeding side effects.
