Prostate Cancer and Male Bladder Sling Implant Problems

For women, vaginal mesh side effects for implants with synthetic materials can be traumatic and include vaginal wall erosion and organ perforation. Men may not have quite the same impact, but as one 81-year-old noted, his doctor worried him that the procedure could cause impotence or not fix the problem. Of course, that was a year ago, so the impotence might have been less of an issue if it became a bladder sling implant failure side effect.
Many women, however, get these devices in their 50’s, or sometimes even earlier. Losing the ability to have or enjoy sex can be traumatic. Moreover, it can lead to nerve damage, and in some women they lose feeling in sections of the pelvis if the vaginal mesh implant uses synthetic material.
It should be noted that some transvaginal mesh implants are relatively safe. For men, bladder sling implants are actually safer because the tape pushes into the urethra, not the vagina, and the failure rate hovers around one percent. There is little likelihood of organ puncture compared to the risks that women face in terms of transvaginal mesh implant side effects.
As noted in other articles on this site, surgeons now note the likelihood of vaginal mesh implant erosion problems for women as the synthetic polypropylene material wearing down. Again, this is not something seen with men, although devices for them have been around for years.
Unfortunately, women who have dealt with vaginal mesh implant side effects may be subject to numerous surgeries to try and fix the problem, if it is even feasible. One way to defray the costs of these procedures and any lost wages and quality of life is to file a lawsuit against the device manufacturer.

I HAD A RADICAL PROSTECTOMY IN NOV 1999, TOOK 3 MONTHS JUST TO TAKE THE CATHETIER OUT BECAUSE IT TOOK FOREVER TO HEAL , LEFT ME WITH AN INCONTINENCE AND URETHRALSCAR TISSUE PROBLEMS THAT REQUIRE SURGERY EVERY 6 MONTH TO REMOVE THE SCAR TISSUE. ALL THIS HAPPEN AFTER I HAD 2 MALE SLINGS AND 1 ARTIFICIAL SPHINTER THAT DIDN’T WORK AT ALL PLUS ALOTS OF STENTS INPLANTED IN THE 2000’S. TODAY I’M STILL SUFFERING WITH ALL PROBLEMS I MENTION PLUS LOT OF PAIN, I CONTROL MY INCONTINENCE WITH A CUNNINGHAM CLAMP PLUS DIAPERS.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I’M ELIGIBLE FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THANK YOU,
Husband had prostate surgery 2003 and then 2005 mesh sling implant. 2013 sling failed. He is having severe pain in the area where bladder sling is locate. Dr has not given reason for all the pain but pain meds do not help much. I still thing it is coming from the sling that is attached to the pelvic bone with screw. Is he eligible for the class action lawsuit.
I had a prostatectomy in 2005 and emerged totally incontinent. I had a sling installed in 2006 by Dr Knoll in Nashville. The operation reduced my incontinence by 99%. However for the last several years I have experienced burning and itching, especially at night, which keeps me awake most of the night. For years I took Ambien, but have now stopped due to my concerns about side effects. Still burning and itching at night. Is this because of the bodies reaction to the mesh?
My husband had a radical prostectomy 5 yrs ago that left him incontinent. His dr recommended a bladder sling a year after. It did nothing for him! We would love to know if he is eligible for the class action lawsuit.
I had a radical prostectomy in Jan of 1996. I had a bladder sling in June or 2006 or 2007. My incontinence has gotten worse since the bladder sling. Please let me know what I need to do to join this class action lawsuit.
I also had a Prostectomy in Dec. 2008 followed several years later with a bladder sling recommended by my Doctor. It was successful for approximately two weeks and then it went south. I now use two pads per day with low activity and three to four on days of somewhat strenuous activity. Am I a client for a class action lawsuit?
I HAD A MALE SLING INSTALLED 6/5/13. BEFORE
THE MALE SLING SURGERY I USED A SINGLE PAD
FOR MY INCONTINENCE, NOW I USE 3 TO 4 DIAPERS A DAY. I’D LIKE TO USE AN ATTORNEY TO
PLEAD MY CASE IF IT IS ADVISABLE.
