Sony Grand Wega SXRD rear-projection TVIf you own a high-definition Sony television, check your model number. You might be eligible to receive a warranty extension or reimbursement for certain repairs under a class action settlement.

The class action settlement will resolve a lawsuit alleging the optical block of certain Sony televisions is defective. The alleged defect causes discolorations in the picture’s display, including green blobs, yellow stains, green haze, yellow lines, a softer and washed out picture, and other discolorations.

Included in the class action settlement are any persons who purchased or received as a gift the following Sony SXRD rear projection high definition television models:

KDS-R60XBR2

KDS-R70XBR2

KDS-50A2000/2020/3000

KDS-55A2000/2020/3000

KDS-60A2000/2020/3000

KDS-70Q006

Depending on your model number and what you’ve done to fix the problem, you could be eligible to receive a warranty extension or a refund of any money you paid to replace the optical block, extend your service plan, or upgrade or exchange your television. For more information, see the class action settlement notice. Claim forms must be submitted within 180 days after the class action settlement becomes final. The final settlement hearing is scheduled for August 13, 2010, but is subject to change. The deadline to exclude yourself is July 23, 2010.

I have a Sony, XBR-65X950G^4K*X1U 65″ 4K WIDE ANGLE F.A. X1 E that I have had nothing, but trouble with in the little over two years I have owned it. Sony has been no help at all. Today it died completely and when I called Sony, they were rude and said they couldn’t help me and said I was on my own. I am 80 years old and thought this would be the last TV I would have to buy, but now it doesn’t work at all. I spent over $2000. and paid for installation, but from the time it was delivered, which I paid for, it took them over two months to get it installed when the TV they removed was working perfectly. I only bought the Sony because they told me my 55″ Panasonic wouldn’t be working much longer.
