Update from the President of TCA

Hooray! July is almost over! We should finally start cooling off in August (just slightly.) The nights are a wee bit longer, we shouldn’t see 115 again this year, and hopefully the sandstorms are gone. Now we just need more rain!

An interesting case was thrown out last week. The Nevada Airport Car Rental Class Action Lawsuit Settlement was thrown out for multiple reasons including lack of claims. Less than 4% of the affected class submitted a claim. We weren’t included in the notification plan for this settlement (though we still reported on it) and I’m sure if we were behind the online notification plan the claims would have doubled or more. Maybe the attorneys wouldn’t be scrambling to figure out a solution to end the lawsuit.

I started Top Class Actions to connect consumers to lawsuits. I saw the need when 95% or more of general consumer class action settlements go unclaimed. It always shocks me when attorneys DON’T want to bring us in on a settlement. We routinely double, triple or even quadruple the number of legitimate claims in settlements because of our AWESOME readers. Our viewers want to submit claims and actively follow up on them on TCA.

You’re also a terrific source for updates. Just check out the Fifth Third Bank Overdraft Fee Settlement to see for yourself.
