Details: The NIVEA settlement will resolve two putative class action lawsuits that challenge Beiersdorf’s advertising claims that NIVEA’s Good-bye Cellulite products decrease the appearance of cellulite. Beiersdorf denies the allegations but has agreed to pay up to $3.175 million into a settlement fund.

You’re considered a class member of the NIVEA Good-bye Cellulite settlement if you purchased one of the following products between January 1, 2007 and February 15, 2011:

NIVEA Good-bye Cellulite Gel Cream

NIVEA Good-bye Cellulite 30-Day Body Beauty Program

NIVEA Good-bye Cellulite Fast Acting Serum.

Here’s what you can get as a class member of the Beiersdorf class action settlement:

(1) If you have proof of purchase, you can receive a cash refund equal to 80% of the actual retail purchase price of the Good-bye Cellulite product you purchased, up to a maximum of 6 packages. Adequate proof of purchase includes cash register receipts or similar documentation that identifies the Good-bye Cellulite product, its retail price and date of purchase.

(2) If you don’t have proof of purchase but can identify, under penalty of perjury, which product you purchased, the approximate retail cost of such purchase, and the location of the purchase, you can receive a cash refund of up to 65% of the retail purchase price of the products, up to a maximum of 4 packages.

(3) If you have no proof of purchase and can’t identify any of the information in #2 above, you can receive one $1.50 certificate for each Good-bye Cellulite product purchased, up to 3 packages.   All claim forms and supporting documentation must be submitted by July 19, 2011.
