Details: The LCD settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit [titled In re: TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation, MDL NO. 1827] accusing 10 LCD manufacturers of entering a price-fixing scheme to fix, maintain and raise the prices of LCD panels.  The companies involved in the case are: Toshiba, LG, AU Optronics, Samsung, Sharp, Hitachi, Epson, Chimei, Chunghwa and HannStar.

Under the terms of the LCD price-fixing settlement, the companies will pay a combined $1.1 billion to consumers in 24 states and Washington, D.C. that purchased a laptop, computer monitor or television with a flat-panel LCD display between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2006 manufactured by one of these companies.

The LCD class action settlement only covers consumers who purchased INDIRECTLY from these companies. “Indirectly” means that you purchased an LCD panel in a television, monitor or notebook computer from someone other than the manufacturer of that panel (such as at Best Buy, Amazon.com, etc.). The states covered under the LCD class action settlement include:

Arizona
Arkansas
California
Florida
Hawaii

The amount of money you can receive from the LCD price-fixing settlement will depend on the number of products purchased and the number of valid Claim Forms filed. According to the Settlement Administrator website, however, this amount could be anywhere from $25 to $200 or more.

The only way to receive money from the LCD class action lawsuit settlement is to submit a valid Claim Form by the deadline of December 6, 2012.

correction: an appeal WAS filed a month ago, they got it in on the last day as per norm.

Then since it was rejected for corrections, they now have the chance to make as many changes to it to suit their needs. Hence, years... forget about it and let it be a nice surprise IF it ever shows up...

an appeal was MONTHS ago. Don't expect a dime, if any, for years....

On 4/23/13 a motion to set-aside judgment was filed, but denied, so they filed an appeal and have amended that appeal a few times so far. This thing is as far away as getting payment to the consumers as the De Beers matter.
