Details: Download the claim form above. It's quite straight forward. You'll have to fill out your name and address. Once that's done, try to dig up a Sports Authority receipt or credit card charge statement showing a credit card purchase from April 8, 2007 through April 30, 2008. If you don't have one, that's fine, you'll just have to list on the form the date of purchase between April 8, 2007 through April 30, 2008, location of purchase (remember only purchases at California Sports Authority stores are included in this settlement,) type of credit card used (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, etc.,) and the last four digits of the credit card. Sign and date the form and drop it into the mail. That's it! Now sit back and wait for your $20 voucher.

Purchased From: Those who purchased something from a California Sports Authority from April 8, 2007 through April 30, 2008

Sports Authority StorefrontTCA Staff Tidbit: Sports Authority LogoQuite a simple class action lawsuit settlement in this case versus the Sports Authority. In this case Sports Authority used to request your zip code and/or "Personally Identifiable Information."

Thankfully it's a relatively easy claim process. Just print out the claim form, fill it out and send it in. After that just wait for your $20 voucher to arrive. Something to note is that there's no "pot" to take money out of. The Sports Authority isn't expecting a high claim rate. How can we tell? Typically the attorney fee for a class action lawsuit settlement is around 30% of the total. In this case the total settlement amount would be about $215,000. Of that $215,000 about $140,000 would be divvyed out to class members. So, no amount is going to charity, anyone who doesn't claim their award just loses out on $20 for no apparent good reason so MAKE YOUR CLAIM NOW!
