It's great to see more class action lawsuit settlements coming out of the law firm Spiro Moss LLP. J. Mark Moore and his team at Spiro Moss LLP in Los Angeles did well by not only removing the need to submit any proof of purchase or receipt, but, allowing online claims to be accepted. As you can see above it's an extremely easy claim process in this class action lawsuit settlement. Just hit the website, submit your info, and wait for your gift certificate! If you shopped at Cache between 12/04/06 and 4/21/09 and used a credit or debit card head over and
In this case Cache got sued because they were allegedly printing more than the last five digits of credit card numbers and the entire expiration date on credit card receipts which is a violation of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (FACTA.) Most retailers out there fixed this a few years back and these types of lawsuits were filed prior to them getting their acts together. In this case, it was a relatively speedy process. The case was filed on January 23rd, 2007. The settlement was dated in August of 2009 so a relatively short 2.5 years from the time the case was filed to the date the case was settled. That's an impressive time line. Of course, the type of case has a large amount to do with this. FACTA cases are pretty cut and dry. They defendant either printed out too much information or didn't. Once it looks like the Plaintiffs have a solid law firm pushing for them these settle relatively quickly. The only thing that delays the settlement is determining how much to pay out. In this case, $15 is a pretty fair amount. They didn't lose any credit card numbers, they just printed a little too much information. Since this class action lawsuit settlement closes in December 2009, you'll likely get your codes in January or February (barring any surprise challenges.) Now, go forth and
