Details: Thousands of attorneys out there need to get their claim forms in ASAP. This is a relatively easy claim process. Just head over to the Settlement Administrator website, print out the claim form, fill it out and send it in. If you own a law firm and paid for students to take the Thomson/West BARBRI Review you are likely included in the affected class as well and can submit a claim. This class action lawsuit settlement covers everyone who took a BAR/BRI Review course from 3/15/01 – 01/04/08. One of the reasons this was held up is because the Judge ordered the $40 payment cap per claimant removed. Now the fund will be distributed equally among all claimants (after expenses) so where before you would likely only receive $40, it will now very likely be MUCH more. Get those claim forms in!

Purchased From: 3/15/01- 01/04/08

TCA Staff Tidbit: BARBRI LogoThis is a relatively easy claim process, ready for attorneys out there to claim. It’s been a LONG time coming (the lawsuit started before Thomson West was acquired by Reuters) but it’s finally getting ready to pay out. Head over and submit your claim!

BARBRI Study AdInterestingly the settlement was modified to further enhance the award for claimants (removing the $40 cap per course) and extending out the claim submission deadline to 9/18/09.  This settlement was originally supposed to close in April of 2009. Because of the modifications the Judge decided that it was prudent to extend the claim submission deadline. If you are an attorney, and took the BAR/BRI Review course via Thomson/West, don’t miss out on this settlement. It’s an easy one and will just cost you postage and a few minutes of your (probably non-existent) time. I know, I know, you’ll lose more in billable time than you think you would gain by taking the time to submit your claim but with the cap removed, you might be wrong. Our bet is that this will end up paying $100 – $200 per claimant/course claimed. We could be way off, but, we think we’re in the right ballpark. Now, go forth and submit your claim!
