Details: The Lowe’s dryer duct settlement resolves two class action lawsuits that accused Lowe’s Home Centers, Inc. of selling clothes dryers and then delivering and hooking up those dryers using foil or plastic transition ducts, which are specifically prohibited by the dryer manufacturers’ manuals and/or on the warning label affixed to the back of the dryers.

According to the Lowe’s dryer duct class action lawsuit: “[Lowe’s] failure to install the dryers safely and according to manufacturers’ instructions breached the installation contracts between Lowe’s and customers, caused a violation of the manufacturers’ warranties on the dryers, created significant danger to customers and their families, and caused substantial monetary damages.”

Lowe’s has set up a $3.85 million settlement fund to pay eligible class members refunds of $20 under the Lowe’s dryer duct class action settlement. If the number of claims from class members exceeds the settlement fund, payments will be reduced on a pro rata basis.

In order to be eligible to receive money from the Lowe’s dryer duct class action settlement, you must have purchased a clothes dryer from a Lowe’s store in the United States and received from Lowe’s delivery and hook up of that dryer with a foil or plastic transition duct. You must also have not moved from the delivery residence or replaced the clothes dryer purchased from and/or the foil or plastic transition duct hooked up by Lowe’s.
