Update from the President and CEO of Top Class Actions

Good morning everyone! I hope you enjoyed your week and are busy preparing for the long holiday weekend! Last week was a crazy one for us. I had to chase down all of our clients and see which campaigns are being renewed and which ones need work or new firms attached to them. It’s a stressful time! I used to have long term contracts, but, I found that attorneys are happy to sign them, and happy to tell you to “stuff it!” if they’re not happy. That means EVERYONE is month to month now. It REALLY motivates me and my team to produce results EVERY SINGLE MONTH! If we aren’t producing results for our clients they leave. If we’re producing solid results they stick around. It’s high stress for me, but, it’s a living!

Leading an internet company where everyone works virtually is ALWAYS interesting. I had a team call this morning and our Managing Editor, Anne Bucher, was on it. Anne has worked with Top Class Actions for years, but, this was the very first time we’ve spoken on the phone. Heck, she’s been full time with us since May, but because she’s worked with us so long as a writer there wasn’t any kind of interview process. It was just “We need you, would you like to join us?” along with the typical salary negotiation (she kicked my butt for the record.) It’s interesting because she spells her name “Anne” but everyone calls her “Annie” when speaking with her. I had no idea. A valuable member of my team for YEARS and I didn’t know how to properly pronounce her name. It’s a sign of this virtual world, but, also a reminder I should get ALL of my writers on the phone on occasion. I think it’s important that you can pronounce your team’s names correctly! Lesson learned! We’ll see what I learn THIS week!
