King Arthur Flour “All Natural” Class Action Lawsuit
By Matt O’Donnell

King Arthur Flour is the latest company to be hit with a class action lawsuit for using “All Natural” labels on products that allegedly contain synthetic ingredients.
Plaintiff Tamar Davis Larsen alleges in the King Arthur Flour class action lawsuit that she did not receive the all-natural baking mixes she paid for and “has lost money as a result” because she paid a premium for King Arthur’s purportedly all-natural mixes “rather than paying the lesser amount for non-natural alternatives.”
The King Arthur Flour class action lawsuit lists 64 products carrying “All Natural” labels and identifies several synthetic ingredients listed on their labels, including ascorbic acid, disodium phosphate, potassium carbonate and sodium acid pyrophosphate.
Larsen is seeking class certification, restitution and damages for alleged common law fraud; unlawful, unfair and fraudulent business practices under California’s unfair competition law; false advertising; and violation of California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act.
The King Arthur Flour “All Natural” class action lawsuit is just the latest in a wave of lawsuits filed against companies using natural labeling claims in recent months, including a class action lawsuit against
Kashi for false advertising and two class action lawsuits targeting
ConAgra’s “100% Natural” Wesson line of cooking oils.
The King Arthur Flour complaint is Larsen v. King Arthur Flour Co., Inc., Case No. 11-cv-5495, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California.
