A proposed settlement has been reached in two class action lawsuits against Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) for allegedly short-changing LaserJet printer owners out of printer ink. If you purchased an HP LaserJet color printer, you may be able to claim up to $13 in e-credits from a class action lawsuit settlement.
The Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer class action lawsuits accuse HP of designing its color LaserJet printers and print cartridges to prevent further printing after a certain amount of use and of falsely telling users the cartridges are “empty” and/or need to be replaced, even though toner remains in the print cartridge and could be used to print additional pages. HP is further charged with failing to properly disclose that the color LaserJet print cartridges include an “override” mechanism that allows users to continue printing as long as desired after their printing has been interrupted or terminated due to the toner level in the print cartridge.
As part of the HP LaserJet color printer class action settlement, HP has agreed to contribute up to $5 million in e-credits to be distributed to class members who purchased, leased, received as a gift or otherwise acquired a LaserJet color printer listed below. These e-credits are redeemable for printers and printer supplies only online at www.shopping.hp.com. The maximum e-credit value you can claim is $13 if you have a Baggett model printer OR $7 if you own a Young model printer. These values may be reduced on a pro rata basis, however, if the total number of claims exceeds the $5 million settlement fund.
To obtain your e-credit from the HP LaserJet printer ink class action lawsuit settlement, you must complete an electronic claim form (and, if instructed to do so, submit proof of purchase and/or an attestation form) at www.HPLaserJetPrinterSettlement.com by February 15, 2011. If you want to opt out of the LaserJet settlement, you must submit a request for exclusion by January 4, 2011.

I bought HP 4650 and joined ink club. After I downgraded my plan, they continue to charge my card for the original plan. I had to cancel my card. When I tried to call, multiple representatives kept telling me they do not work for INsta Ink and would transfer me to a number no one ever answers. I tried the support online and it always saids there is no one available. How can a company sell a product and have no one there to respond to the consumer.
Add me
I have hp officejet 4650. Wont print. Sends bogus message that cartridges are incrtrctly installed. Ot defect. Get new cartridges I am told. But these ARE brand new HP cartridges bought at Staples. What can I do? Help me. Stapled never told me there was a problem, otherwise I never would have bought it. Is Staples offering any kind of help?
